The Voyage Botanica Mission
Very Simple. Voyage Botanica is about reconnection. The use of Medicinal and Edible plants for humans goes back to the beginning of time. It is about a connection. A connection to the natural world around us. It is about the "web of life". It is about being apart of this web. It is about us as individuals being a single thread that can be connected to all the threads in this web of life.
Voyage Botanica is about teaching people about Medicinal Plants and allowing these “plant doorways” to helps us reconnect to the natural world. Each plant is a doorway. Each doorway a journey and a song. The world of learning about medicinal plants is more than just “cause and effect of medicine”. It is about spirit. It is about connection. It is about humanity reconnecting to the natural world and about taking a voyage to heal our body, mind and spirit.
Remembering, that each breath is a creation, each
action has a consequence of benefit or detriment, and each manifestation has a pull on the
universe.

We are a collective, a community of people who are
embarking on the journey to embrace our beloved Mother Earth. In this journey, we
are all connected to the Great Spirit and the pathway to healing. Directing our focus on
keeping alive the tradition of connecting people and plants, we surrender to service.
Voyage Botanica is wherever we are. Wherever there are people and plants, and essentially anywhere in the world. It doesn't matter where you live. What does matter though is your journey, your voyage, and your connection to the natural world. It is through the studying and teaching of medicinal plants that I have found my journey...one that I have learned to call Voyage Botanica.
This is a plant-planet. Everything we are is a direct
and indirect result of the influence of plants. The air we breathe, the food we eat, and
the clothes we wear... Essentially everything we are has a plant relationship of some
kind. This is not a mammalian planet - this is a plant-planet. This is
Botanica.
My journey has been one of a "Voyage
Botanica". It has been my personal journey to become an herbalist and to
develop a relationship to the natural world. It is through this journey that I realized
one day that I am not really learning just about medicinal plants and how to use them, but
I am really learning how to re-weave myself back into the tapestry of life...one thread at
a time, by one plant at a time. The Web Of Life so to speak. Each plant that I journeyed
to... each plant that I picked to make medicine with, gave me a new song, a new thread,
and a new understanding that what I really wanted was to reconnect to the natural world
and to come home to the garden.
That is why the Voyage Botanica Field Programs are very important. We spend time with the most important teachers of all ...the plants themselves. If you want to be an herbalist, if you want to have that connection to the natural world, if you hunger for something that has escaped you all of your life... maybe you just need to come home, come home to the natural world, and come home to the Gaian connection.
Take an herb walk, learn the old ways, touch the earth, listen to its songs, reconnect, pick plants and make medicine, and take a Voyage Botanica....
