The Voyage Botanica Team
Michael Cottingham - Voyage Botanica Director
Michael is a Clinical Herbalist and Ethnobotanist with over 16 years of experience with plant medicines. He is founder of Bear Creek Herbs in Silver City, New Mexico. This Herb Store has been providing Herbal Medicines and knowledge to the local community for nearly 15 years.
In addition, he is founder of Southwest Botanicals, Plant-Planet Films and Voyage Botanica. He is a graduate of The Southwest School of Botanical Medicine which has been taught by Michael Moore for over 24 years.
Michael has studied and taught about medicinal plants of The American Southwest for over 16 years. His ethnobotanical explorations have taken him from The Sahara & Kalahari Deserts of Africa, to Mexico, Central and South America, and Australia.
With his ethnobotanical and clinical work he has taught thousands of people on how to become their "Own Herbalist" and how to reconnect to the Natural World through the use of plant medicines. His medicine walks are considered by many to be very experiential and legendary. He helped to create the herbal curriculum at the New Mexico College of Natural Healing in Silver City, New Mexico and taught there for a number of years. His radio show "Quest for Health" reached thousands of listeners from Canada to South America.

In addition to Michael Cottingham as the principal "Field Teacher", there are also many other highly respected herbalists, medicine makers, shamans, and ceremonial leaders who teach at Voyage Botanica. Some of these outstanding people are: Michael Moore, Leo Mercado, Richard Mcdonald, Monica Rude, Marayah Rai, Jerry Matthews, Jonathon "Sparrow" Miller, Don Pablo Amaringo, and Kathy Gritton.
